Military Pet Insurance

We have gathered together a selection of frequently asked questions from our clients to assist you in deciding which of the offered plans are suitable for your requirements.

What if I get posted overseas?
We know that as a member of the military you may be posted overseas and wish to take your pet with you or purchase a pet once you are there. JBI PetCare provides cover in selected European countries including Germany, Cyprus and Gibraltar – See full country list.
Is my pet insurance still valid if I return to the UK?
Yes but you must inform JBI of your new address at the earliest opportunity.
Am I covered if I take my pet dog into work with me?

Yes, the policy will provide you with £2 million of third party liability cover in the event that your dog injures someone or causes damage for which you are legally liable. IMPORTANT – This will only cover non-working dogs in the workplace.

Do I have to live behind the wire in order to have Pet Insurance?
No, so long as you are a serving member of UK Armed Forces and live in one of our designated countries we will cover your pet.
If my pet was to get a medical condition that would be ongoing would you continue to cover it?
If you have Exclusive cover and continue to renew your policy we will continue to cover the condition subject to the payment of the excess. If you have Premium cover we will cover the condition for 12 months or up to £4,000 policy limit (whichever comes first) from the date of diagnosis and then it will be excluded from the policy.
What is the excess on vets bills?
1. For policies started prior to 1st February 2012 the excess on vet fees is £75.
2. For policies started on or after 1st February 2012 the excess is £75 or 20% of the total costs claimed, whichever is the greater.
The policy excess is payable per policy year per condition.
Am I able to claim for cremation costs?
Yes, there is cover for cremation costs up to £100. There is no excess on this cover.
Is my dog covered in my place of work?
Yes, as long as it is not there as a working dog.
