Military Single-Trip Travel Insurance

We have gathered together a selection of frequently asked questions from our clients to assist you in deciding which of the offered plans are suitable for your requirements.

If you are a member of the HM Armed Forces and your leave is unexpectedly cancelled due to unforeseen service reasons and you have selected yes (and paid the additional premium) for Cancellation – Military duties option, then you may claim for travel and accommodation expenses. A policy excess of £50 per insured will apply, for family policies a maximum excess of £100 is applied.
Policyholder and spouse or partner living together for at least 6 months and their dependant children living at home aged 0-17 years (inclusive) (or under 23 if in fulltime education and normally living at the family home) on the commencement date of the policy.
Greenland is classed as Worldwide Excluding USA, Canada and the Caribbean and Iceland is Europe.
Cancellation benefit for Single Trips starts from the date your policy was issued, all other benefits start from the time you leave home up until you return home or the policy expires, whichever is the first.
Only if the area is west of the Ural Mountains (including St. Petersburg and Moscow). All other areas in Russia east of the Ural Mountains such as Siberia are classed as Worldwide Excluding USA/Canada/Caribbean. 
If the illness is a result of a pre-existing medical condition then there will be no cover for you to return home. If the illness is due to an unexpected medical condition, cover will be provided for you cut short your trip, but only if it is necessary for you to return home. Please note that if you or your spouse are not a member of the Armed Forces then a cancellation/curtailment claim due to an injury, serious illness or death of an immediate relative is only covered if they reside in your country of residence. You should always contact the Emergency Medical Assistance number provided
European Health Insurance card is not a substitute for travel insurance and will only cover you for medical treatment under the state scheme and although sometimes free it may also be at reduced costs whilst abroad. It will not get you home (repatriation). Travel Insurance will provide repatriation cover as well as cover for cancellation, personal possessions, money, liability, etc, which are not covered by EHIC.
Yes, a family policy would cover the parents and/or children for travel.
The policies are underwritten by Millstream Underwriting Ltd and insured through Mondial Assistance Europe N.V.* Both companies are authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority. *During 2011, Mondial Assistance Europe NV is merging with AGA International SA. Mondial Assistance Europe NV insurance policies will be automatically transferred to the new insurer AGA International SA and all terms & conditions of the policy will remain unchanged.

You are covered for emergency medical and personal accident due to a terrorist attack, however you are not covered for cancellation or curtailment.
