What is Covered
At JBI, we understand that everyone’s priorities and requirements are different and that’s why we offer a range of plans from different providers at all levels to suit your needs and budgets.
All our insurers offer budget ranges which include inpatient, day-patient and emergency evacuation cover but also more inclusive plans which offer maternity, routine dental and wellness checks as part of the cover. Many insurers also offer optional extras such as travel insurance and personal accident cover.

A useful guide for buying Private Medical Insurance (PMI) was published by the Association of British Insurers, it is designed to help you understand more about PMI in the UK but many parts equally apply to expat private medical insurance too.
Area of cover
Some insurers offer European cover only, others offer geographical cover worldwide or worldwide excluding USA and/or Canada.
Choice of currencies
Most of our insurers offer at least three major currencies for quotes and applications – U.S. dollars, pounds sterling and Euros. For clients in the Middle East we can quote in dirhams.
Choice of payment methods and instalment
Our insurers offer a range of payment methods and you can choose to pay the premium either in instalment or annually.
Choice of underwriting
You can choose whether to be fully medically underwritten or have the moratorium option when applying. Our separate Underwriting Options sheet will explain the difference.
Cooling off period
Most insurers offer a “cooling off” period which allows clients to cancel within a reasonable time frame from the start of the policy e.g. 14 days without penalty.
Excess/Deductible
All our insurers offer a range of excess/deductibles to suit your needs – the higher the excess accepted, the more the standard premium is discounted.
Pre-existing medical conditions
In most cases pre-existing medical conditions, such as those which are ongoing or chronic, are not covered and may be the subject of an endorsement to that effect. However, each application is examined on its own merits and we are always happy to make enquiries on your behalf.
